Yvonne Force as a groupie | |
We intended to invite a lot of groupies at first and then decided the cast for the Backstage scenes was getting too big, so decided to have Yvonne make an appearance is enough. Yvonne went to art school, at RISD, with Lucas (see François de Menil), so I have known her through Lucas since the mid-eighties. For the past few years, she has been "Yvonne Force, Inc.": she advises one major art collection and also produces various art productions, such as the Vanessa Beecroft performance held at the Guggenheim last year. In addition, she is without question one of the best-dressed women in the New York art world. I knew if she accepted a part she would look better than any of us: she has long blonde hair and is very svelte and could easily be cast as one of the love interests in a James Bond movie. In addition, she has already worked with more than a few of the artists in our cast. It also occurred to me that she probably knew I don't approve of Vanessa Beecroft (I call it 'Twat Art') and that if I invited her to join us she would accept the offer to mean that I didn't hold the other project against her. And accepting a role in The Anita Pallenberg Story would allow Yvonne to diversify and even balance out her support system: supporting both Laura Cottingham and Vanessa Beecroft constitutes a remarkable range. Yvonne did better than just say "yes". She also procured us some funding. Yvonne appears in the scene with the Vogue photographer (see Rainer Ganahl), which is video parody of Richard Avedon's photos of The Factory. |
